Writers across all languages use their pen to enlighten the world. Those who write in local languages are indeed special. They not only inform the elite and the well-educated, but also speak directly to the greater percentage of the community – the people on the streets, in the homes, in the market squares and everywhere. They break the barriers that come with second language competence and directly connect with the deepest part of our minds. This is why conferences like the ‘Ranar Marubutan Hausa ta Duniya 2025’ is very important. And this is why Bakandamiya supports it.
Without a doubt, writers are the conscience and the echo of the society. They are like a mirror through which society sees itself. Throughout history, it is writers who have documented important events. They tell the stories of centuries past, expose genocide in remote communities and enlighten us about extraordinary individuals. From South African apartheid to the European slave trade, writers keep us informed and help ensure that justice is served. It was writers like Chinua Achebe of Nigeria, Léopold Sédar Senghor, a Senegalese, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o of Kenya, Frantz Fanon of Algeria, Liberian Edward Wilmot Blyden, Agostinho Neto of Angola, including Abubakar Imam of Hausa literature in Nigeria that inspired the movement for Africa’s independence in the 50s and 60s through their writing.
Indeed, writers are an essential pillar of transformation, global peace and human advancement, and therefore truly deserve their rightful place in the society – encouragement and support in whatever possible way.
We believe, the International Hausa Writers Day is one of those events that gives our local language writing warriors the opportunity to hone their skills, network and be part of national problem-solving efforts. Thus, the choice for the conference theme, ‘Writers in the 21st Century: Security and Economic Challenges” (Marubuta a Karni na 21: Kalubalen Tsaro da Tattalin Arziki) cannot be better suited than in the current situation of Nigeria.
As a strong advocate for educational advancement through writing and scientific inquiries, Bakandamiya is proud to be associated with this event. We are proud of you and wish you success.
We encourage all writers, organisations and stakeholders in development to be part of this noble initiative. The event will take place from 31st December 2025 to 1st January 2026, in Dutse, Jigawa State, Nigeria, at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse.
Finally, we congratulate the organisers of this impactful event for their foresight and commitment. We wish you God’s guidance and success.
