Bakandamiya partners with Northern Writers Forum to promote literary creativity by celebrating an icon of creativity and craft, Ladi Kwali.
Ladi Kwali, born in 1925 and died in 1984, was a renown Nigerian potter who started as a traditional potter, but her talent and artistic uniqueness took her work beyond borders to become one of Africa’s finest icons in pottery and modern ceramic art.
To honour the legendary work of this African artist, Northern Writers Forum, a creative hub based in Minna, Nigeria, established a Poetry Prize competition to inspire creativity and discover emerging talents. Bakandamiya is proud to be associated with this noble initiative.
